Pianist Xenia Pestova presents an innovative programme drawing connections and building bridges between the music of the past and works by living composers. Ed Bennett’s striking and uncompromising “Gothic”, a meditation on the resonances of Notre Dame in Paris, will be juxtaposed with Debussy’s timeless sunken cathedral. Shimmering and flickering “Flow Form” by Richard Emsley will be heard together with music by Bach, Scarlatti, Patricia Alessandrini, Leo Chadburn, Heather Hindman, Annea Lockwood and Arlene Sierra. Each piece on the programme explores the piano in a powerful and unique way, coming together in a colourful mosaic of timbre and texture.
