Lynne Plowman’s Escape Route for solo violin is one of a series of short, solo pieces funded by the Arts Council of Wales Cultural Recovery Fund.
Over the last year, I’ve composed new solo pieces for violin, flute, saxophone, harp, trumpet, horn and tuba, all published by Composers Edition. Written around themes of long-distance communication, incorporating morse code and birdsong, some of these pieces feed into a larger ensemble work, Beacons. This 30-minute work for eight musicians is designed for outdoor performances in surprising locations.Lynne Plowman
Lynne reminds us to watch this space for further details but in the meantime do enjoy the wonderful violinist Fenella Humphreys playing Escape Route.
Also Lynne Plowman’s new album The Beachcomber was released by Prima Facie Records last September and enjoyed a warm reception. It included being shortlisted for the Wales Arts Review Welsh Albums Best of 2020.
There have been some lovely responses in the press, including this 5 star review from Paul Conway in Musical Opinion:
“This disc from the enterprising Prima Facie label can be safely recommended”.
Composers Edition is proud to publish all but two of the works of this album, as well as Escape Route and other works by Lynne Plowman.
