On 22nd October, the London Choral Sinfonia, conducted by Michael Waldron, will release the latest CD in their series of recordings devoted to the music of Richard Pantcheff. The CD will appear on the Orchid Classics label, and its title will be ‘The music of Richard Pantcheff, Volume 2.’
‘The music of Richard Pantcheff, Volume 2’ follows the highly successful release, in September 2020, of Volume 1 of this series, also on Orchid Classics. Like its predecessor disc, Volume 2 will contain Richard Pantcheff’s Choral music, although this time accompanied by orchestra rather than organ.
Two of the works on the disc are scored for Tenor Solo and strings, in which the Tenor soloist is Nick Pritchard. Two further works on the disc are arrangements for Flugelhorn and Strings of works originally written for organ. The flugelhorn soloist in these works is Peter Mankarious.
This CD represents a further stage in the ongoing collaboration between the London Choral Sinfonia, Orchid Classics, and Richard Pantcheff in the concert and recorded performance of his compositions.
All the works featured on the disc are proudly published by Composers Edition, and include such favourites as A Prayer of St Columba, the Missa Brevis, and Psalm 91- Qui Habitat.
