A Thai-British composer, pianist and historical keyboard player, Prach Boondiskulchok enjoys international demand for his compositions and performances. His works include Night Suite (2014) for Piano Trio, praised by George Benjamin for its “ingenuity and imagination” and was one of the four commissioned composers for the Endellion String Quartet’s 40th Anniversary Concert in 2019, alongside Sally Beamish, Jonathan Dove, and Giles Swayne. His Ritus: Four Portraits for String Quartet was praised as “a work of great charm” in The Guardian after its performance at the Wigmore Hall in London.
A specialist in historically informed and new music performance, not least as a member of the award-winning Linos Piano Trio, Boondiskulchok also explores historically informed performance through composition, creating new works for historical instruments including A Bao A Qu’s Stairs variations for fortepiano and Squonk Diptych for portative organ. We’re very happy to welcome him to Composers Edition family of composers and excited to be making his finely crafted works more widely available.
I am looking forward very much to working with Composers Edition, and to joining a community distinguished colleagues.
With the focus on new music for hisorical instruments in the coming year, I hope that my works will contribute to the rich catalogue of Composers Edition. Upcoming projects include a premiere by Catalina Vicens on the medieval portative organ next month, a collaboration with Liam Byrne on the viola da gamba in January 2020, which I look forward to sharing with the Composers Edition members!
We’re delighted to present this initial set of works and look forward to working with Prach Boondiskulchok on new projects and commissions.Prach Boondiskulchok Profile & Works
