Charlie Peace: His Amazing Life and Astounding Legend by Michael Eaton, directed by Martin Berry with a new score by Paul Alan Barker will be performed by MA Music Theatre students at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, London 13 – 15 February 2018.
Before Jack the Ripper, there was Charlie Peace: the most infamous villain in Victorian England. Michael Eaton’s inventive and colourful play sees Charlie through the eyes of a raucous vaudeville entertainment, including original music by Paul Alan Barker and newly unearthed historical material. Recounting and re-examining how a philanderer, murderer and master of disguise came to fascinate and enthrall the public before and after death – this is a truly villainous Victorian vaudeville.
