John Palmer’s acoustic work “Present Otherness” (commissioned by Jonathan Harvey in 2007) will be performed at International festival of Electroacoustic Music (EMUFest) in the Sala Bianchini of Conservatorio Santa Cecilia, Rome on Friday 27th October.

The material for this work is based entirely on trumpet samples recorded by Marcus Stockhausen and was commissioned by Harvey in conjunction with a CD project released by Sargasso in 2008.  For the CD titled “Other Presences” Harvey asked a number of composers including Evelyn Ficarra and Lawrence Casserley to use the same samples played by Marcus (son of Karlheinz) that he was using for his piece.
