Odaline de la Martinez has been commissioned by the European Lilith Ensemble to write a work for them.
The Lilith Ensemble is ‘a new music ensemble committed to innovative, socially-conscious, genre-fluid performances’. The creation of the ensemble Lilith was inspired by members of the Virago Symphony Orchestra, who have been performing in The Netherlands. While Virago is an all-women’s orchestra, Lilith is made up of a combination of men and women performers. The idea of the ensemble is to create 50/50 (gender) programmes and perform them throughout Europe as well as to record the works.
Odaline’s new work will be for flute, oboe, clarinet, cello and double bass, including all the doublings, with a maximum length of 10 mins. The plan is for the work to be recorded in December 2021.
We at Composers Edition are looking forward to hearing this new piece played by this exciting new ensemble, and publishing the score parts in due course.
