It is with great pleasure and pride that we share the news that Odaline de la Martinez will be receiving an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Surrey on Wednesday 17 July.
Odaline graduated from Surrey with a MMus in 1977 and is the first recipient of the Vice-Chancellor’s Alumni Lifetime Achievement Award, having received the following words of commendation:
The University is proud and honoured to bestow the award in recognition of your distinguished work as conductor, composer, and record producer, internationally recognised for your path-breaking promotion of contemporary, women and Latin-American composers.
The Honorary Doctorate has been a recognition of Odaline de la Martinez’s contributions to Music in the UK and abroad, including her work with Roma and travellers through the charity The Mornington Trust.
Composers Edition, being the publisher of Odaline’s music, is thrilled to celebrate this lifetime victory. Many congratulations!
