Martin Iddon’s Muses was written for NOISE-BRIDGE (Christie Finn, soprano and Felix Behringer, clarinet), and gives the title to the concert where it will premiered in Stuttgart, Friday 18 October.
We all have our muses: particular people or things, theories or aesthetics, that inspire us as artists. This concert explores our muses in all their shapes and forms, particularly the ways in which artists often find their muses in the most unexpected of places and how two people can be one another’s muse
Martin Iddon tells us about his new piece:
It’s the third panel of my ‘memorials’ triptych, and follows tu as navré (2009) and hamadryads (2010). They used musical material from Binchois and Josquin respectively, while Muses draws its musical material from Gombert.
tu as navré and Hamadryads, as well as other works by Martin Iddon, are published by Composers Edition and are available for purchase through our website, to which Muses will be added in due time.
