Liz Lane has just been involved in a lovely online commission called River of Time, written for Lydbrook Band as part of the Wye Valley River Festival which took place 21 – 27 September 2020.
River of Time takes its inspiration from the River Wye and the festival’s theme of ‘time’. It also includes concepts, thoughts and musical ideas around the concept of time evolving from conversations with all the members of the band. In addition, over half the band are made up of couples or household units and they have been able to record and film together during the current pandemic restrictions…

River of Time features original words and narration by Rhys Trimble and the audio was put together by Lukas Greiwe, a colleague of Liz in the Computer Science and Creative Technology Department at UWE Bristol. Video and animation is by Gary Andrews.
River of Time was commissioned by Lydbrook Band for the Wye Valley River Festival 2020 with funding provided by Arts Council England.
Liz Lane is currently a Lydbrook Band’s Composer-in-Residence. Composers Edition is proud to have published many of Liz’s works for them, and we look forward to adding River of Time to our catalogue in due course.
