A film about Liz Dilnot Johnson’s creative work through lockdown in the Malvern Link community has just been released as part of the Live and Local Living Room series.
In December 2020 a new group called Sing A New Song was formed for young adults in the Malvern Link With Cowleigh Parish, led by Liz Dilnot Johnson and Lynne Lindner. This short film documents the first time the group was able to meet in person and make music together, after 6 months of meeting on Zoom. Directed by Spesh Maloney.
Live & Local Living Room, created as a response to Covid-19, pairs communities with professional artists to work on creative projects together. The initiative aims to reduce isolation by engaging people in arts and creative activities and this particular project was supported by Arts Council England, Malvern Hills District Council and Worcestershire County Council.
Also Irene, Liz’s first collaboration with film director Peter Speyer will be available online from Friday 5 November with a live premiere on Sunday 14 November 8.30pm at JW3 Hall 341-351 Finchley Rd, London NW3 6ET. A commission by the UK Jewish Film Festival, this film is a short documentary about visual artist Irene Scheinmann who left Iraq for England on Yom Kippur in 1950 under extreme circumstances.
