On Thursday 27 June John Tilbury plays Erika Fox’s To Veronica in ‘My Myra’ concert series at Bishopsgate Institute. This performance also celebrates 50 years since the foundation of the Scratch Orchestra, an experimental music ensemble founded in 1969 by Cornelius Cardew, Michael Parsons and Howard Skempton, and which John Tilbury collaborated with.
Tilbury has been at the vanguard of contemporary classical piano for the past fifty years, specialising in the music of New York School composers such as Morton Feldman, John Cage and Christian Wolff.
About the ‘My Myra’ concert series:
Each My Myra performance features Myra, a 1927 Rosewood Model D Steinway Grand, which was the particular favourite of revered British pianist, Dame Myra Hess – famed for her wartime concerts at the National Gallery. Recently restored to her former glory, Myra the Steinway continues to inspire and enthral musicians and audiences alike with her deliciously-rich, warm tones.
The programme also features works by Gibbons, Hobbs, White, Lennon/McCartney/Tilbury, Skempton, Parsons, Feldman, Schoenberg, Shrapnel, Cardew, Smith, and Tilbury.
Composers Edition is proud to publish works by Erika Fox, including To Veronica, which is available for purchase through our website.
