Composers Edition is delighted to welcome Ion Marmarinos. A Greek composer based in France, his music has been described as “instaure une dimension théåtrale” (ResMusica) and “une musique toute en volutes, avec de belles atmosphères, toute de douceur” (Thierry Vagne). His works have been performed across Europe and the USA by the Lumina String Quartet, Lontano, Winds of the Americas, Exaudi and L’Ensemble Alternance amongst others. He has received numerous awards including the Matan Givol International Composition Competition (Israel), Bruno Maderna International Composition Competition (Ukraine), Kaleidoscope International Competition (USA).
2018 saw premieres of The Horses for soprano and piano, (St. James Church, London & Salle Cortot, Paris), Traces Sur L’ Eau for flute/piccolo, soprano saxophone, violin and cello (Teatro Comunale di Bologna & Bruno Maderna Conservatorio, Italy), Le Chemin Qui Brille for flute, clarinet, piano, violin, viola and cello (Lviv Philharmonic Hall, Ukraine) and Rencontres for soprano saxophone, percussion and double bass, (Salle Cortot, Paris) with performances by Philippa Boyle and Clare Simmonds, Camille Le Bail and Simon Carrey, Vertixe Sonora Ensemble, The Phoenix Ensemble and L’ Ensemble Court – Circuit.
2019 will see further premieres, the release on RMN Music Classical’s Chamber Music Series of a recording of Le Chemin Qui Brille for chamber ensemble and the recording of Sacretum by Coro Volante Choir for Ablaze Records’ New Choral Voices Series. Marmarinos says:
