Vic Hoyland’s Yellow Sands (a version of Ariel’s song from The Tempest) has a first performance at Manchester University, Cosmo Rodewald Hall, Sunday 22nd October. It’s an occasional piece written to celebrate Gordon Crosse’s 80th. Written for a quirky ensemble of soprano, violin, tenor recorder, oboe or cor anglais and ‘cello, this premiere is being performed by Lesley-Jane Rogers (soprano) the Solem String Quartet, Richard Simpson (oboe) John Turner (recorder).
