Hana Lee Oshima plays Graham Lynch’s ‘White Book 1’

Hana Lee Oshima

On the 30th March, pianist Hana Lee Oshima will be giving a further performance of the complete White Book 1 (seven pieces) by Graham Lynch, at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg.

Graham tells us the nice story behind this:

Hana had previously discovered Graham Lynch’s music online and her enthusiasm for this piece lead her to discover his piano music, which she decided to perform. As it turned out her teacher, Albert Kim, was also taken with the style of piano writing. Hana subsequently gave the US premiere of White Book 1, and Albert gave the US premiere of White Book 2, both in Kansas City. Albert also spoke about this to a good friend of his, pianist and composer Paul Sanchez (based in Charlottesville), and coincidently it turned out that Paul had previously performed some of Graham’s music and knew it well. Graham is now in the final stages of finishing White Book 3 for Paul, to be premiered later in the year. Sometimes bits of the jigsaw do join up in mysterious ways!

Composers Edition is proud to present Graham Lynch’s White Book 1 and White Book 2 in our catalogue. And we are also looking forward to publishing White Book 3 in due time.
