Graham Lynch’s Sideshow for piano will be performed by dazzling pianist Constance Chow in her February concerts!
On Wednesday 2 February Constance plays at St Nicholas Church, Brighton, and on Thursday 17 February she plays at St. Olave’s Church, London EC3.
Sideshow was composed for Constance Chow who gave the first performance in Cambridge in the summer of 2021. The music comprises seven short pieces which each have very individual characters, and although their initial inspiration came from the circus drawings of Seurat they also encompass other influences including Baudelaire and Pessoa. The message behind the music relates to the idea of life as an ‘illusion’, that we become characters in a stage-show, an existential drama of our own making.Graham Lynch
The titles of the pieces that make Sideshow are:
- The Ballad of London Fields
- The Old Acrobat
- Cock and Harlequin
- Spiritualised in Night
February concerts will also include further performances of Graham Lynch’s Couperin on the Road given by the Beau Soir Ensemble.
Sunday 6 February – Christ Episcopal Church of Cambridge, Cambridge, USA
Sunday 13 February – Alden Theater, Mclean, USA
Tuesday 15 February – Heritage Hunt, Gainesville, USA
