We are delighted to welcome the highly respected and distinguished composer Gordon Crosse to the Composers Edition family. Spanning more than 60 years, his compositional career has included major orchestral commissions for, amongst others, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Halle Orchestra and London Symphony Orchestra, concertos for the likes of cellist Alexander Baillie and clarinettist Michael Collins, four operas, four ballet scores, choral works, chamber music and incidental music for theatre and television. He has been commissioned for the Cheltenham, Aldeburgh and Edinburgh Festivals and recordings of his works have been released on five portrait CDs and featured on many more. Crosse’s teaching engagements have included Birmigham University, UCSB California, Royal Academy of Music and a fellowship of Kings College Cambridge. Earlier works are published by OUP and Chester Music and Composers Edition is proud to be working with Crosse, initially presenting his piano works, with more to follow.
The control Crosse exerts over the emotional ebb and flow of his material is impressive
