Emma-Ruth Richards’ Red Anemones for solo soprano will be premiered by Rachel Ridout on Friday 13 November at 6:30pm (UK time) in a concert live streamed from the Angela Burgess Recital Hall at Royal Academy of Music.
Red Anemones is a short setting of poetry by the 12th Century Persian poet Jala al-din Rumi.
Your fragrance fills the meadow.
Your mouth appears in a red anemone,
But when those reminders leave,
My own lips open,
And in whatever I say,
I hear you.
This piece is part of the 200 Pieces project where 200 composers have been commissioned to write 200 new works to to celebrate RAM’s 200th anniversary.
