We’re looking forward to the BBC Radio 3 broadcast on Friday 3 April of Emma-Ruth Richards’ The Sail of a Flame, premiered this year in January at City Halls in Glasgow with conductor Thomas Dausgaard and mezzo-soprano Lucy Schaufer. If you can’t catch it live, the broadcast will be available to listen to via the BBC website and BBC Sounds app for a month.
March 2020 brought the world premiere tour of Emma-Ruth Richard’s new cello duet: Until a Reservoir No Longer Remains for Guy Johnston and Skeku Kanneh-Mason. They toured and performed to packed concert halls in Halifax (Philhamonic Club), Manchester (The Stoller Hall) London Southbank’s Queen Elizabeth Hall. They also presented a huge outreach programme with the piece across London primary schools with London Music Masters and Tara Franks, and at the Junior Royal Academy of Music.
Here’s a flavour of the hugely positive reaction on social media:
One of the outstanding compositions we heard from @cellojohnston & @ShekuKM last Saturday, was ‘Until a Reservoir No Longer Remains’ composed by @ERR_composer , we were captivated by the sheer brilliance of the piece. For me it was the no.1 composition that evening. Thank you.
credit where credit is due. I had goose bumps and someone to my right, was moved to tears (my wife), and your beautiful piece @ERR_composer was brought alive by two geniuses on their two magnificent cellos
It was an absolute honour welcoming back @ShekuKM and Guy Johnston! Thank you @LDNmusicmasters for making this a memorable day for our cellists who had the privilege to perform with such inspirational musicians.
