On Saturday 18 December at 9pm (local time) Daniele Venturi’s La Rosa Bianca (1999-2020) for virtual choir, double sax quartet, live choir, electronics and video on a poetic text by Attilio Bertolucci will receive its World Première by AERCO Laboratory Choir under the baton of Tim Sharp at Basilica of San Martino, Bologna.
This work was written as a tribute to Attilio Bertolucci during the Pandemic by Covid-19. AERCO – Associazione Emiliano-Romagnola Cori commissioned Daniele Venturi for their Virtual Choir Project Channel during the first months of pandemic in 2020. Singers and directors of the associated and non-associated choirs were invited to take part remotely, as virtual choir, in the recording of La Rosa Bianca. The voices were then overlaid and a piece for saxophone quartet added, also composed by Daniele Venturi.
Composers Edition looks forward to publishing La Rosa Bianca in due course.
Meanwhile, last month Daniele Venturi’s new book The Breath of Sound has been released by our friends at Zecchini Editore. It contains fifty interviews with fifty performers of Daniele’s music, edited by Renzo Cresti.
