On Sunday 13 December at 4pm Colin Riley presents the premiere of his new work The Year’s Midnight, a setting of part of John Donne’s ‘A Nocturnal Upon St Lucy’s Day’.
This online music video premiere falls on St Lucy’s Day, once celebrated as the shortest day of the year. Featuring the voices of Melanie Pappenheim and Jeremy Avis, it is a meditation on stillness, melancholy and solitude.
This performance is part of Sound Festival, Scotland, in their Soundcast Live series. The video will be broadcast through Zoom and the audience will be able to interact during the session using the chat as the music is being played, and also join in a live discussion at the end.
