The imposing 12th Century basilica and Unesco World Heritage site the Speyer Cathedral is the grand setting for the premiere of John Palmer’s Lux Ardens. An atmospheric setting indeed for what is the opening piece of a cycle of new works for cello dealing with the notion of light and inspired by the visions of medieval mystic Hildegard of Bingen. The work has been composed for cellist Christina Meissner renowned for her captivating concert performances which often draw together contemporary works with older repertoire.
This premiere performance will take place on Saturday 5 March, 6pm.
