Charlotte Bray: upcoming performances

Springtime is looking very busy for Charlotte Bray whose piano quartet Zustände received its world première last Saturday at the Wiltshire Music Centre, Bradford on Avon. Framed by Schumann’s Piano Quartet and Shostakovich’s Piano Quintet, Charlotte’s new work was performed by the Schubert Ensemble. Each of the three movements is inspired by a different form of ice, all photographed by Bray on a recent trip to Greenland. It also topped The Guardian‘s list of the best new classical music events of this week.

The world première of her Blaze and Fall for clarinet, viola and piano will take place at the St John’s Smith Square in London on 27th April from 19:30 with the Jacquin Trio performing a programme featuring among others Judith Weir or Colin Matthews. More on that here.

Charlotte’s piece Upflight of Butterflies for flute/piccolo, clarinet, piano, violin and cello will receive its UK première on 21 May from 19:30 at the Kestle Barton Gallery, Manaccan in Cornwall by Patrick Bailey and Kevos, a collective of some of Cornwall’s finest musicians with a passion for performing contemporary classical music. More information on that here.
