Charlotte Bray: upcoming performances

Tonight, the Syzygy Ensemble is performing Charlotte Bray‘s Upflight of Butterflies as part of an event called “Cramped Space” seeking to explore how small numbers of people act in close quarters. Originally commissioned in 2008 by Britten Sinfonia for their lunchtime series, its revised version will be heard alongside pieces by John Adams, Giacinto Scelsi, Jacob ter Veldhuis and Anna Clyne. The concert, held at the Melbourne Recital Centre, is part of Metropolis New Music Festival 2016. More information here.

Next Friday, 20th May 2016 from 8pm, cellist Ulrich Heinen and pianist Malcolm Wilson of the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group perform Perseus in what is the final BCMG concert in the Conservatoire’s Adrian Boult Hall before it is demolished as part of the city redevelopment. Charlotte’s Perseus is in good company alongside pieces by Howard Skempton, Morton Feldman and Betsy Jolas. More information and tickets here.
