Charlotte Bray December Concerts & Premiere

December brings Charlotte Bray’s music in performance all over Europe.

On Friday 13 December, Hanna Dahlkvist cello and Johannes Thorell alto saxophone perform Midnight Interludes in Stockholm, Sweden. Concert starts at 12:15pm at Grünewaldssalen.

On Saturday 14 December, The Certainty of Tides for cello and strings receives its World Premiere at Kings Place, London, 7pm, with Natalie Clein cello and Aurora Orchestra, Duncan Ward conductor. This concert celebrates women pioneers past and present, to which Charlotte Bray’s The Certainty of Tides was commissioned by the First 100 Years to mark the centenary of the Sex Disqualification (Removal) Act 1919.

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the National Gallery of Slovenia in Ljubljana, the composer took the sculpture by Drago Trsar entitled Amidst the Powerful and the Powerless as her inspiration for the piece. In connection with this, the ground-breaking history project “The First 100 Years” celebrates pioneers in the legal profession over this period, since the Sex Disqualification (Removal) Act, which paved the way for women to become lawyers for the first time. The sculpture is a visual representation of the principal themes inherent in the 100 years project and the music, in turn, embodies both.

On Thursday 19 December at 8pm, Suya Dalmak for cello and tape is performed by Isang Enders at Piano Salon Christophori, Berlin, Germany.

Composers Edition is proud to present a range of Charlotte Brays’ works available for perusal and purchase through our website, including Midnight Interludes, The Certainty of Tides and Suya Dalmak.
