On Thursday 28 March, Camden Reeves’ Still Above Ground will be performed in a Quatuor Danel Lunchtime Concert with David Fanning (piano) in Manchester.
Still Above Ground is a short elegy for cello and piano, written in memory of Reeves’ grandfather, who passed away in 2016 aged 92. Reeves tells us that he…
… was an accomplished jazz guitarist, trumpeter, pianist and arranger. His sound and harmonic sophistication on the piano were unmistakable, and it was he that inspired my deep love of Bill Evans. I have tried to capture something of this harmonic world here.
