Laurence Crane’s Omloop Het Ives for bass flute and string quartet has been nominated for the BASCA Small Chamber Award. Commissioned and premiered by the Ives Ensemble in April 2017 this is the second shortlist nomination for Crane in two years. Crane composed it as a thank you to the Ives Ensemble for their wonderful performances and very well received CD of his works. ‘Omloop’ refers both to the cyclical nature of the piece and the cycling races of Flanders and the southern Netherlands.

The winners will be announced on Wednesday 6 December 2017 at ceremony hosted by the British Museum and we’ve got out fingers crossed for Laurence.
