Composers Edition is delighted to welcome distinguished composer Anthony Payne most widely known for his major orchestral commissions including three for the BBC and his completion of Elgar’s Symphony No.3. We’re delighted to be working with him to make available all of his works from the past 25 years. This will include several orchestral works including Visions and Journey (2002, fp. BBCSO/Davies) The Period of Cosmographie (2010, fp. BBC Philharmonic/Noseda) and Of Land, Sea and Sky (2015-16, fp. BBCSO / Davies). Payne is currently working with a number of other composers on a 2019 BBC joint commission responding to Elgar’s Enigma Variation for the Martyn Brabbin’s 60th Birthday celebrations.
Our initial selection of works include the recently completed String Quartet No.3 (premiered and currently being toured by the Villiers Quartet), Piano Quartet (2014), Piano Quintet (2007), Out of the Depths Comes Song (2008) for cello and piano and The Undiscover’d Country (2010) for ensemble.
