A musical voyager whose faithfulness to his inner voice has given rise to an astonishing array of fine music, we’re delighted to welcome Anthony Gilbert to the Composers Edition family. A composer who will need little introduction to some, his music has been commissioned, performed and recorded by many very finest artists including Jane’s Mistrels, Goldberg Ensemble, London Sinfonietta, BBC Symphony and Philharmonic Orchestras, CBSO, Psappha, Manchester Camerata and the Arditti Quartet. He has enjoyed fruitful ongoing relationships with numerous performers including conductors Clark Rundell and Nicholas Ward, pianists Richard Casey and Peter Lawson and the recorder player John Turner. On joining Composers Edition Gilbert says;
It’s a great feeling being back among a friendly composers’ association where the members show mutual support, including financially! I hate this competitive feeling that has swamped the contemporary music world now. We need fraternity and sorority – that way the musical world is bound to take more notice, since it shows that we have a mutual belief in the quality of what each of us is creating.
Composers Edition is proud to be working with Gilbert, presenting an initial selection of works, mostly from the last decade.
