Anne LeBaron has been awarded a MacDowell Colony Fellowship this Autumn! These are highly competitive with 139 were awarded across all arts disciplines, from a pool of 1514 applicants.
Anne herself tells us about the fellowship:
The colony is located in Peterborough, New Hampshire. This will mark my 7th Fellowship to the MacDowell Colony. I’ll be completing my opera, LSD: Huxley’s Last Trip, writing for an ensemble of instruments built by Harry Partch combined with an ensemble of strings, percussion, and piano. A new scene from the opera, The Double Helix was performed online this summer. The score of the opera will be published by Composers Edition.

This new group of incoming Fellows is a testament to the diversity of talent represented by MacDowell Fellows who come to Peterborough from all corners of the world to find a bit of sanctuary in which to create, and also to share their valuable insights with each other. As we ramp up toward full capacity, our aim is to ensure that our Fellows have the time, space and communion to create transformative art and new ways of lifting the human spirit.
Philip Himberg – Executive Director
