Two new works by Liz Lane will be premiered this Friday 3 June 2016 as part of the BBC Radio 3’s In Tune with Sean Rafferty live from Bristol’s Colston Hall. The Southwest Open Youth Orchestra, launched in September 2015 by Open Up Music, will perform Silver Song – a solo version of music from Silver Rose – alongside pieces by Nils Frahm and Michael Nyman using assisted technology to make music.
The UWE Bristol ReVoice Choir will give a premiere of Important Matters, written for people with aphasia whom singing helps with speech. Lyrics were specially written by Jennifer Henderson with words and ideas from the choir members themselves.
The performances are held as part of the nationwide BBC Music Day 2016 and the Fast Forward Festival 2016 at The Lantern, Colston Hall. More information on the festival line-up and tickets here.
