Gregory Emfietzis: latest news

London-based, Thessaloniki-raised composer Gregory Emfietzis has been commissioned by James Wilson and percussionist Alexander Pepelasis to write a new composition, ‘Gluttony: Live to Drink’, which will receive its premiere at the June, 5 at York University’s Creative Processes in the Arts: the 2017 Arts & Philosophy Conference (link), followed by a performance at the Clothworkers Centenary Concert Hall in Leeds on 20 June. Tickets for this event here.

Furthermore, the audience across the UK can hear Gregory’s score for the theatre play ‘Dark Matter’ by the Vertebra Theatre Company who will be setting on a mini-tour this summer:

June, 1 at Rialto Theatre, Brighton Festival, 4pm
June, 13  at Little Angel Theatre, London, 7pm
August, 22 – 26 at 6.30pm, Greenside Venues, Olive Theatre, Edinburg Fringe
The music of Gregory Emfietzis is driven by a desire to increase the communicative potential of new music without resorting to easy aesthetic compromises. In its exploration of the drama, psychology and ritualism of public performance it reaches far beyond sound alone to embrace staging, lighting, dramaturgy, costume design and more. Have a look at his previous compositions ranging from chamber and vocal to opera on our catalogue right here.
