“In Place” is a new music project by Colin Riley, exploring a sense of place and identity in the varied terrains of the British Isles. Using of a variety of texts (scientific, poetic, contemporary and ancient) as well as forgotten words from Robert Macfarlane’s word hoards, it will be first performed by Kate Halsall (piano), Melanie Pappenheim (voice), and Nic Pendlebury (viola) at Language, Landscape and the Sublime on 29 and 30 June at Dartington Hall, Devon.
