Brian Inglis: ‘Living Stones’ album release

All five of Brian Inglis’ solo piano compositions will be released later this year on the contemporary and electronic music label Sargasso Records. This will mark the first commercially available release devoted entirely to Brian’s music, following the release of his recorder quintet ‘Burmese Pictures’ on the Nonclassical album Tangled Pipes in 2011, and a single/EP as part of the pop outfit Hicks Milligan-Prophecy on Atomicduster Records in 2007. Performing are Gabriel Keen, Christopher Scobie and Brian Inglis himself. The album will be available both on CD and digital download – release date is yet to be finalist but it is set for summer 2017.

Tracklist:
Wedding*
Karleks-Vals*
Piano Sonata
Living Stones*
Passacaglia*
Concerto for Piano Solo (Homage to Alkan)

*Published as Four Piano Pieces in 2015. The Concerto and Sonata were published in 2015 and 2016 respectively.

Here’s Brian commenting on the occasion: “I am delighted that Sargasso will be releasing an album of my piano music, ‘Living Stones’, this year. The lead tracks on the album reflect a close artistic relationship I’ve had with the excellent pianist Gabriel Keen since 2002, and I’m especially pleased this work will now be disseminated to a wider audience”.

Here are photos from the January recording session held at Lucinda Gallant’s ‘Last Eight’ studio in Hackney Wick, London.
