We’re delighted to welcome Brian Inglis to Composers Edition with an initial selection of vocal and piano works. Inglis has specialised in writing for voice, working with distinguished singers including Mark Oldfield who premiered Three War Songs, and Roddrick Williams who is currently touring with his setting of Sassoon’s ‘Everyone Sang‘ (from the same set) at the Llandeilo and Budleigh music festivals. He has also worked with Lore Lixenberg who gave both the concert and the stage premiere of his one-woman opera The Song of Margery Kempe.
Having worked with the BBC Singers and New London Chamber Choir, Inglis has developed close relationships with a range of amateur and semi-professional groups. In 2013 he collaborated with lyricist Charles Hart on Highbury Fields, commissioned for Islington Choral Society’s 40th anniversary concert at Cadogan Hall. Choral works available so far on Composers Edition include Without Loss, commissioned by the Lambeth Singers, Verbum bonum et suave, commissioned by Jeremy Rouse for Ishirini and After-thought, a setting of text from William Wordsworth’s Sonnets from The River Duddon. The first piano work to be published by Composers Edition is Inglis’ glitteringly clangerous Tintinnalogia. We’re looking forward to publishing further choral, vocal, piano and chamber works in the coming months.
